Bathroom vanity lighting design
Bathroom vanity lighting design. Bathrooms are no doubt an important part of the room. Along with the basic functions of bathing, shaving and using the toilet, people use it for grooming themselves while also providing a temporary place for coping with their stress at times. So, the bathroom and the lighting in it is especially very important to help people make the proper use of bathroom without any hassle.
One very important part of the bathroom is the vanity section. This area in front of the mirror is used by people to shave, apply make-up, comb their hair and get ready for the day. Proper lighting in this area can help people do these things with accuracy and speed. Bad lighting brings a lot of fuss. Generally, people put only a single lamp above the mirror but at most times, such lighting gives rise to shadows instead of working in the favor of people standing in front of the mirror. Such single lighting above the mirror does not provide sufficient lighting on the face and the neck while these areas are the most important parts while you shave or apply make-up. So, it is essential that the vanity lighting is designed very carefully. Here are some tips to help you do better with your bathroom vanity lighting design:
To avoid the shadows on the face and neck because of a single light generally put above the mirror, you can choose to apply lighting on each side of the mirror. A source of light on the ceiling in addition to this set-up would also help in getting a better focus. Avoid any bright source of light that falls directly in the mirror. This could a lighting fixture just opposite to the mirror or a wrongly places ceiling light. In case it is very necessary to put a lighting source opposite to the mirror whose light shall fall directly in it, the light source should be of non-glossy finish and a larger reluctance quotient so that the light gets dispersed within the bathroom in good proportions rather than falling in the mirror and irritating you.
The placement of the side luminaries is also very important. Take care that they are not in your cone of vision otherwise they would be irritating. They would wash the eyes with extra light thus making the eyes unable to concentrate on the details. A good idea is to have a mirror fixed a bit apart from the wall and having light fixtures from all the sides of the mirror which can be easily fixed in the free space between the mirror and the wall.
Lighting fixtures that would be fixed in an area that comes just above the head of the person when he/she stands in front of the mirror also give proper focus on the details. Such lights can come as your way to add beauty to the bathroom. A designer lamp, recessed lamp or a good piece of the artful lamp can take place of such overhead lights thus also adding that glam quotient.
Good lighting saves you from the lot of irritation that can come if you are actually not very well done with your makeup, shaving or hair and for which a bad lighting can be blamed. With good lighting, you would do all your grooming properly and would feel confident while you leave your house for the day.
